Religious Education
Welcome
to the Religious Education program of the Unitarian Church of Sharon
(UCS). Our vision is to create a community
- where our youth are full participants;
- which fosters respect, tolerance, strong values, and ethical thought and action;
- which is safe, fun, and comfortable;
- which supports self-realization within a framework of discussion, questioning and learning.
The entire church congregation provides the underlying
curriculum of our program. We hope to demonstrate the values that we
preach in all of our interactions and relationships with the children
of our church. This includes having them participate upstairs for the
beginning of each Sunday service to share adult rituals, respecting
the joys and concerns they voice each week, and providing a larger
family of congregation members who know them and care for them, both
in church on Sunday morning, as well as throughout the rest of the
week.
We recognize that parents are the primary religious educators for their
children. The Religious Education program of UCS aims to support parents
and families in this effort.
