A note from our Director of Religious Education
Christine Bulman, Director of Religious Education (DRE); DRE@uusharon.org
Welcome to the Religious Education program of the Unitarian Church of Sharon where our young people are welcomed into an atmosphere of respect, inclusion and love and are encouraged on their quest for truth and meaning.
The education program for children and youth here is experiencing a renewal and rebirth and I invite you to explore whether you might find a comfortable community in which your child’s spirit can grow.
After a recent period of re-evaluation, the congregation has grounded itself in a vision for its programs that integrates the best of it’s past, with innovation and a vision for the future that embraces the values of an ever-evolving and growing Unitarian Universalist faith.
This program is built upon a strong foundation, with a well-articulated philosophy and I am confident that it will continue to guide and accompany the faith formation of young Unitarian Universalists for years to come. You’ll find this philosophy outlined below, spoken from the hearts and minds of the community members here.
In Joy,
Christine Bulman
Here at the Unitarian Church of Sharon you will find:
Faith Building We provide experiences of the spiritual, religious and sacred – rooting our children and youth in practices that cultivate depth and a place from which to navigate the complexity of the world with morality, resilience and joy.
Collaboration. We learn by doing. Across generations, we collaborate and empower one another to do things large and small as we learn about ourselves, each other and the world.
Community. We are an intergenerational community of belonging for young people where they are held, mentored, and witnessed as they grow.
Service. We strive to help meet the needs of communities both within and outside of our walls. Together, we regularly provide aid to marginalized communities.
Citizenship. We cultivate the capacity to build a community in which everyone belongs. We explore systems of power and privilege and are always learning how to show up in the world with open hearts and minds.
